Editing culture in nigerias'publishing industry

The shortage of editors in the country made authors especially literary authors tolook abroad for such services.the edito can be described as someone who challenges the writer to bring out the best in him.
for jude dibia, the author of 'unbriddled ' and 'walking in the shadow',a lot of people who parade themselves as literary editors were at best grammar teachers 0r at least copy editors. He believes there are only a few proffessional editors in nigeria.
writer odia ofeimu explains that an editors' bussiness is to scale up the ambition of work tothe level of what obtains in a discipl or in the market by encouraging re- writing where necessary
finetuning the merely passable to make it better.once the decision to publish awork has been taken,it ideally should be forwarded to a hierachy of editors who in turn have to add there own individual tou ches to it.
